There are 5 types of appointments available at the
surgery:
1) ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS
These can be made with any doctor in advance. Normally this
would be two or three days ahead but it is easier to get an
appointment at a time of your choice and with a doctor of
your choice when you book ahead for routine matters.
2) ON THE DAY APPOINTMENTS
Each Doctor will have a set number of ‘on the day’
appointments available each day (mostly in the morning but
there are also a couple each afternoon). You are advised to
call as close to 8.45am as possible and you will have the
option of which Doctor you wish to see (as long as they
still have an ‘on the day’ slot available). Doctors will
naturally each only have a finite number of spaces available
every day so there is no guarantee that you will get an
appointment of your choice that day.
3) TELEPHONE APPOINTMENTS
You can book a telephone appointment in the same way as a
routine appointment and the doctor will phone you as near as
possible to the time booked. This is useful when you don't
need to be examined, especially for longer term follow up of
conditions, or where you know what the problem is likely to
be, e.g. a urine infection.
4) EARLY MORNING APPOINTMENTS
Each day (except Tuesdays), we have routine appointments
between 7.30am and 8.00am. These are pre-bookable
appointments that are provided particularly with full time
workers in mind and we would respectfully ask that they are
requested only by those patients for whom they were
specifically introduced.
5) URGENT APPOINTMENTS
We have urgent slots each day to allow for problems that you
feel must be attended to THAT DAY and could not wait for the
first available routine or on the day appointment. These are
shorter appointments and are only with doctors who are
available that day. i.e you cannot choose or request to see
a particular doctor.
